Governmental Appointment

On Nov 13, 2007 the Mayor of Topeka (Bill Bunten) submitted my name to the Shawnee County Commission for the Solid Waste Management Committee (SMWC).
Today, I received word that yesterday (11/26/07) the Shawnee County Commission approved my appointment of a 3-year term on the board. SWMC generally meets once a month.

  2. I am not completely sure, what exactly they do, but I will be attending the meetings once a month. Seeing as they are my county owned trash service, I am sure I will have some say into what is charged for trash service, among other things.

    Funny thing is, I personally use a private hauler.

  4. lol. Thanks John. I love being involved in the community, something that in itself can be tough with my work hours.

    I guess, I need to go update my resume, so I can add the new board.
